The Rainbow Deck of Cards modernized the UL Solutions Yellow Card™ into a cross industry, data solution by integrating sustainability, electrification, and regulatory certifications into ProductIQ. As practical example the End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) Directive continues to push the automotive industry toward higher recycling rates and reduced environmental impact. Plastics, while essential for lightweighting and performance, present unique challenges in meeting these requirements. This session explores how the combined use of ISO 1043 material coding and UL Yellow Card certification can streamline compliance and sustainability efforts. The standards help identify what materials are made of and what their safety properties are. Implementation can help makes recycling easier, supports separation and provides insights about the recycled material with “new” established safety properties for the “next” application.
